Google is testing a more intuitive way to access your search history and saved items

What it’s essential know

  • The ‘Saved’ tab is being replaced by an ‘Exercises’ tab that consolidates all elements into a single location, featuring a Chrome and Google app search history archive.
  • By consolidating complex problems into a single location within your search history and stored items, the feature simplifies management, eliminating the need to hunt through multiple tabs for relevant information.
  • The feature has experienced a limited rollout thus far, with select clients having had access up until now, and has demonstrated steady growth over the past two months.

Google is introducing a new feature that simplifies access to your search history and saved items directly within the main app.

Google’s flagship app is undergoing a massive overhaul? The existing “Saved” tab is set to be replaced by a newly designed “Exercise” tab, which will consolidate all saved items into a unified location. This feature will provide you with rapid access to your search history from both Chrome and the Google app.

Currently, reviewing your historical search data through the Google app can be a challenge due to information scattered across various tabs. With this experiment, Google aims to simplify the process of accessing and managing your search history and saved items by providing a single, unified hub for all your queries and findings.

Google is piloting a novel feature, extending access to a select few users in a controlled test rollout. According to reports from Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug, the project has been in development for the past two months.

The newly introduced “Exercise” tab provides a streamlined, app-based experience rather than an online view. You’ll be able to easily save, share, and export content directly from the app.

In a surprise find, Telegram user @andrey4ik21pro1_q stumbled upon an unannounced ‘Exercise’ tab within their Google app version 15.44.25.29.arm64 on the Pixel 8 Professional. Despite this, it was clear that the feature wasn’t available on another Pixel 8 Pro running a newer version of the app.

As expected, the feature will expand its reach in the coming weeks, allowing customers to access it soon.
