With my M3 Max MacBook Pro, launched in November 2023 and equipped with macOS 14.0.1 Sonoma out of the box, I’ve encountered not a single highlight issue throughout its nearly one-year lifespan so far.
With the final push of motivation, I finally took the bold step to upgrade my software from version 14.7 to 15.1, opting for the new Sequoia experience. The mds_stores course continues to dominate the top of the Power website record in Exercise Monitor, aside from the previously addressed issue with the System Settings search bar. While there appears to be no tangible efficiency loss, the prolonged runtime without completion is certainly frustrating.
Something hindering my workflow is the fact that one process, likely mds_stores, is preventing me from safely removing an SSD. Here is the rewritten text:
I have an Essential X8 2TB SSD, which is divided into two volumes: a 1.25TB partition dedicated to Time Machine backups, and another for storing my GOG game library.
Every evening, I ensure it’s connected to execute the Time Machine (TM) backup, a process that macOS executes with precision and reliability. I click on the two volume icons on my desktop, right-click on them, and select “Eject 2 volumes”. In Sonoma, simplicity reigns supreme. Upon upgrading to Sequoia, the TM quantity now ejects immediately when used as an alternative, whereas the opposite functionality does not exhibit the same instantaneous behavior.
I now take away my assumption for a couple of minutes, then hit Attempt Once more and, when it fails again, I press Force Eject (as I simply can’t shut down my Mac every time I need to eject a drive, I hope you’ll be able to relate).
What may I do to:
- remedy this?
- What’s happening here?
- Avoid this happening again in the future?
Shouldn’t I consider upgrading to Sequoia amidst the outstanding reviews? I initially thought that 15.1 would provide adequate protection.
