Apple unveiled its Emergency SOS via Satellite feature in 2022, leveraging GlobalStar’s US-based infrastructure to facilitate connectivity. Apple announces a landmark investment of $1.1 billion in a groundbreaking deal with Globalstar, aimed at significantly enhancing the latter’s satellite infrastructure capabilities.
