May you inform us a bit about your self, your background, and what drew you to Information & Analytics?
As a seasoned DJ, I transitioned to a sound engineer, meticulously building and designing recording studios. Throughout my career as a sound engineer, I have found myself drawn to the technical and analytical aspects of resolving problems. Following the establishment of my home, I yearned for a transformation. Following the promotion of my recording studio, my mother, who oversaw a local government office, offered me employment at her workplace, where I commenced working in the call center unit, handling incoming phone calls. As I delved into the project, it became clear that my role extended far beyond making phone calls alone, prompting me to join the database team.
While studying for an A Level in Economics and Mathematical Sciences at The Open University, I simultaneously worked on the council. With skills acquired through my diploma program, I applied myself to develop logistic regression models that analyzed interactions within the customer service department where I previously worked. With just one individual, I firmly believe you could achieve the same results my entire team has achieved. By streamlining information gathering, identifying knowledge gaps, and selectively targeting top-performing connections, my project yielded a remarkable 300% increase in outcomes surpassing the cumulative achievements of our team’s collective endeavors. After that I used to be hooked on the facility of knowledge & analytics.
I subsequently developed a dedicated entity providing expertise to diverse indigenous authorities. As I near the pinnacle of academic achievement on my diploma, I was fortunate enough to secure a placement with Aquila Insights, a respected consultancy based in Scotland. Through collaborative efforts with esteemed clients such as Sony, Office Depot, and RBS, I garnered valuable exposure to the industry, laying a solid foundation for my future endeavors. Within a relatively short span of time, I demonstrated exceptional growth in my skills and expertise, ultimately securing a position at PHMG. As I ventured forth without a clear destination, my path unexpectedly converged with the landscape of learning, ultimately situating me within this current reality.

We specialise in audio branding. As consumers experience the distinct sonic signatures of brands like Netflix or Disney+, they instinctively associate those auditory cues with industry giants in entertainment and streaming, even when their visual identities are absent.
We expand our audio branding beyond conventions by crafting bespoke music tailored specifically to each unique audience. Let’s delve into the world of Atlan: This sprawling narrative is actually a prequel to the acclaimed Stormlight Archive series. It explores the history of a long-lost city and its people, shedding light on the mysteries that have haunted the world of Roshar for centuries. What do you characterize? What’s the cadence it seeks to convey?
The affinity between music and personal identity was the primary draw that led me to join this corporate organization. With a track record of remarkable profitability, our company has successfully expanded its global footprint to 56 countries, serving a loyal customer base of 36,000 discerning buyers.
My proficiency stems from a vast repository of linguistic patterns, garnered through exposure to diverse texts, conversations, and feedback from users like you. This collective wisdom enables me to recognize patterns, generate responses, and refine my understanding of language nuances.
Upon receipt of this information, we were utilizing SQL servers in conjunction with Excel spreadsheets. Prior restrictions prohibited interactive stories, with every knowledge inquiry requiring escalation to the dedicated information team.
To successfully modernize the flow of data into the corporation, it was essential to leverage cutting-edge expertise and deploy reliable solutions that ensured seamless integration. I aimed to identify specialized solutions that would simplify processes and minimize the requirement for additional engineers.
I previously approached expertise selection with prudence, deliberately eschewing certain choices and refraining from creating solutions ex nihilo. While Azure Cloth provides a comprehensive solution, its novelty also introduces additional risks – something I’m keeping under close observation. Determining the most suitable tools for a task is crucial, ensuring seamless collaboration and optimal performance among all components. By leveraging these tools, businesses can establish a solid foundation for growth, showcasing immediate value and flexibility to adapt as they expand.
In my board proposal, I emphasized the significance of two key tools: Atlan and ThoughtSpot. While we may interact without them, their presence would undoubtedly make a significant difference. We aimed to seamlessly integrate governance principles into our operations, rather than arbitrarily designating knowledge custodians without a defined roadmap, by providing tangible case studies and easily digestible information. With properly organized knowledge, governance becomes streamlined, and Atlan simplifies this process.
I selected Snowflake for its rugged reliability and competitive pricing, as well as Fivetran for its seamless pipeline performance, which effectively met our data integration requirements.
I implemented Power BI solutions for government clients, and also developed ThoughtSpot capabilities for our in-house self-service analytics initiatives. As an enthusiastic advocate for ThoughtSpot, I appreciate how its user-friendly interface empowers customers to narrate their own stories, thereby reducing the need for rigid data modifications by the analytics team.
Using Airflow for orchestration, I leverage its capabilities to efficiently manage pipelines, while relying on DBT in tandem with GitLab for seamless integration of our code repository and continuous integration and delivery processes.
Why was Atlan match? Throughout my analysis course, certain concepts stood out as particularly significant.
I previously explored leveraging open-source technology through DataHub, but the project’s maintenance and development necessitated substantial financial backing. Atlan stood out due to its innovative plug-and-play approach, allowing it to mechanically construct miners that uncover previously unknown insights. The script analysis tool helps uncover subconscious programming patterns, thereby streamlining development processes and reducing the need for manual code scrutiny.
Atlantic allows us to track and monitor what we’ve built, including knowledge lineage and artifacts. Without a doubt, reviewing stories becomes seamless when you don’t need to inquire about specific coding details – simply traverse through Atlan’s intuitive interface to access a comprehensive report of the story’s history. Newly onboard crew members can now track report development through Atlan.
Atlan’s significance lay in his role as a crucial component of the overall picture.
After conducting a thorough analysis of Collibra, Alation, and Atlan, my findings unequivocally pointed to Atlan as the top choice. While it was seemingly engineered with mid-sized businesses in mind, requiring negligible technical expertise. In order to achieve a cohesive outcome, it was crucial to integrate the scenario seamlessly from its inception, rather than treating it as an addendum later on. By integrating Atlan within our existing frameworks, we were able to learn from its development and incorporate it organically, rather than forcing it to conform to our pre-established systems.
While consistently meeting with management teams at events to gain insight into their views and intentions, I’m unaware of any other players that are equally committed to this approach alongside Atlan. I was initially highly impressed by Atlant’s management team – not just their passion for the product, but also their commitment to resolving my issues and enhancing our situation.
What strategies will you employ to leverage Atlan’s capabilities and enhance your information repository? While exploring diverse applications and objectives that yield excitement and enthusiasm.
We have invested in a knowledge repository model that supplies our knowledge storage facility, which subsequently flows into an operational knowledge distribution system – an entity I refer to as the information marketplace. Our entire narrative framework and performance indicators are built upon this foundation of knowledge. In Atlant, we develop straightforward approaches for building comprehensive solutions, thereby enabling seamless execution once a metric is defined; this facilitates the creation of SQL scripts that efficiently extract the required data from our mart.
With this functionality, we empower consumer providers and gross sales organizations to easily access curated tables, allowing them to efficiently self-serve using ThoughtSpot’s intuitive platform. We house the underlying data for these metrics within Atlan, thereby generating a comprehensive catalog.
As new team members join us, I ensure a seamless handover process is in place to facilitate their integration and success. As a matter of course, we document our processes in real-time and develop programs that leave transparent trails for others to follow. Although Atlantic plays a crucial role in our ecosystem. We instruct newly assigned personnel to report to Atlan for training, where they will gain a comprehensive understanding of how our organization operates and the composition of its various components. Atlan doesn’t merely dispense code; instead, it emphasizes crucial object representations, their applications, and their relevance.
Our most significant endeavour involves creating an exhaustive glossary within Atlan, thereby serving as the sole authority on all matters related to reality. This atmosphere enables enterprises to access and analyze comprehensive company metrics and performance stories from a range of sources, including Salesforce, PowerBI, and ThoughtSpot, seamlessly integrated around critical key performance indicators (KPIs).
We are currently refining our knowledge lineage and model descriptions to ensure precision and clarity. As we develop new knowledge frameworks, we gradually update descriptions piecemeal rather than in large quantities. This ongoing effort ensures that our knowledge frameworks are thoroughly documented and easily understandable.
Have you considered sharing some fundamental best practices for effective knowledge management with your friends just starting out?
Firms frequently tout their commitment to being knowledge-driven, yet rarely delve into the underlying assets that truly fuel innovation. Data movement within our group requires organization and persistence to ensure seamless transfer. As technology advances, tools like Atlan simplify the process of organizing and sharing knowledge-based discussions.
Please don’t misunderstand; Atlan isn’t a panacea. Won’t it fix weak groups within your data repository? Despite these limitations, the framework still provides a centralized hub to map out and evaluate your procedures, ultimately helping you identify which ones are effective and which require refinement.
By leveraging Atlan’s expertise, we were able to identify the critical tables that would serve as the foundation for our project, subsequently focusing on the most essential components. We found a single, pivotal desk that played a crucial role in our entire project, allowing us to focus on its significance and prioritise accordingly. Upon reviewing our narratives, we discovered that certain tales we believed were crucial were actually tied exclusively to specific storylines, rather than the overall context.
As we obtain delicate knowledge, we will immediately flag it. If we’re subjected to an audit, we’ll simply retrieve Atlan and clarify, “That’s our current situation.” In a systematic approach, we process and manage our understanding of various topics. By acknowledging the value of our intellectual assets, data-driven individuals must cultivate an appreciation for the treasures that comprise their knowledge legacy, recognizing the importance of nurturing and refining this valuable possession.
