That is altered to accommodate new extensions for Gemini seamlessly. The WhatsApp extension’s functionality now relies heavily on Gemini for seamless message delivery and voice calling capabilities. This integration was previously powered by the Google Assistant. When using the Gemini demo, you’ll notice that the app seamlessly launches WhatsApp when you want to edit a message. This isn’t currently possible within the current framework of the Google app.
The Google Messages extension functions similarly to its WhatsApp counterpart. Google’s description highlights the Extension’s ability to transmit and examine messages; currently, though, it can only send messages, failing to analyze them accordingly. We attempted to provide Gemini with specific directions, such as “display my last Google Messages update,” but unfortunately, the AI failed to produce a result.
The Spotify extension shares similarities with its counterpart, the other extension. It effectively functions for both free and premium Spotify users alike. When requesting Gemini to play a song, with the Spotify Extension activated, the AI promptly begins playing the selected track from Spotify and displays a thumbnail of the album artwork or music video, allowing for an immersive experience. Tapping the Spotify thumbnail instantly launches the app.
