FBR is developing an innovative automatic bricklaying robot designed specifically for large-scale construction projects in the building industry. The Hadrian X bricklaying robotic system features a sophisticated mechanism linked to a vehicle that precisely delivers each brick to the tip-effector via the robotic arm’s articulated construction. Since its inception in 1994, the Australian company has been successfully marketing products that support economic growth and community development.
By autumn 2023, Hadrian was embarking on the development of its innovative bricklaying robot. The next-generation Hadrian X robot was installed on a U.S.-compliant truck chassis and transported to a construction partner in Florida for delivery. The primary unit of FBR’s next-generation Hadrian X has successfully docked at a port in Florida, marking a significant milestone for the company.
The robotic system will undergo a rigorous engineering evaluation to ensure its thorough readiness for website acceptance testing. The unit will launch an illustration programme primarily focused on Florida, designed to assess the capabilities of U.S.-based contractors. The innovative modular housing solution can construct between five to ten standalone dwellings in partnership with the Demonstration Program.

The corporation is offering Hadrian X through a “Partitions as a Service” initiative, allowing native contractors to lease and deploy the solution on construction sites for partitioning projects. The Hadrian X construction method eschews the traditional application of mortar between bricks, instead opting for their placement without this bonding agent. When the 3D-printed structure is complete, a robust adhesive is applied to ensure the individual bricks remain firmly in place; according to the manufacturer, this innovative bonding method surpasses traditional mortar techniques in terms of strength.
Bricklaying automation is evolving
An autonomous bricklaying company that raised $25 million earlier in the year. Within the Netherlands, Monumental successfully completed its inaugural large-scale project, a 15-meter (49.2-foot) façade installation at a workplace and warehouse facility in 2023.
